skummbeast: “BOOT THE FOOT” #36:  VICTRA VS. APRIL O’NEIL! SKUMMBEAST:  How would you describe your art style and what influences have helped shape that style? VICTRA (Victoria Price):  A lot of my work consists of Cheesecake pin ups, but I like to go against the grain every now and then by throwing a male illustration up there. I work digitally and a lot of my work has an airbrushy softness to it. I love making things feel or seem luminescent, especially when I am working on the flesh of a character. I’d describe my style as a mixture of some classic pin up artists like Gil Elvgren and Vargas with some modern twists like  the comic cover artist Adam Hughes. SKUMMBEAST:  Share a bit about your history with TMNT, and tell a bit about why you chose this character and decided to interpret it this way. VICTRA:  Whenever I think of TMNT, I think of pizza and sewers and being an adventurous teenager. Whenever I take a bite out of a super cheesy  slice of pizza 9 out of 10 times there is always an image of the turtles in the back of my head haha. Their pizza was always the cheesiest! I chose Raphael, because I’ve always seen him as a leader in the fights and I wanted the chance to do his character justice!(I hope I did) I wanted to give him more of a teenage form, not as muscley and beefy, but still strong, afterall he is a MUTANT! haha. I feel I kind of stuck with the original design, but put my own spin on him. SKUMMBEAST:  Which was your favourite of the four Turtles? VICTRA:  Probably Michelangelo for his humor and goofiness :). DOCTOR CONQUEST’S BIG HOLIDAY-TIME COPIC MARKER GIVEAWAY

Hello, tumblr.

So I’ve got this pretty solid collection of Copic art markers. They’re great. I like them a lot. But here’s the thing: I am so allergic to them that I can’t use them without wearing an industrial strength respiratory mask, which is very uncomfortable and awkward, meaning I haven’t used these beautiful markers in over a year and have no intention to in the future.

They’re lonely. They’re unloved. They need a new artistic mind to command them. Could that artistic mind be…yours?

I’d thought about trying to sell some of my Copic collection for a while but it turns out I can’t be bothered with the trouble and anyway I prefer giving things away (related fact: I will never be rich). And though I am but a humble internet-no-one-in-particular with not many people following this blog I thought, surely, someone is going to see this and want these magnificent markers, right?

Copic markers are, in my opinion, the best art markers you can get. They’re incredibly versatile—they can go on perfectly flat and smooth to look like digital colouring, they can be blended to look like watercolours, they can do a lot of things! However, their quality is reflected in their cost and although they’re worth every penny, at $4 to $7 per marker they can be prohibitively expensive, especially for students. So, here’s a chance to win a pretty great set!

WOW SO MANY PRETTY MARKERS

Wait, am I going to be super allergic to these too?
Almost definitely not. Most people aren’t bothered by Copics at all, I’m just super unlucky and oversensitive. The markers have very little smell, especially compared to other art markers.
